How to Properly Wash Your Wooden Utensils

We often wonder how to properly clean our wooden utensils to preserve them for as long as possible.  We have gathered the best recommendations for disinfecting and maintaining your wooden tools.

After Each Use

  • Each time you use your wooden utensils, you can wash them with warm water and dish soap using a soft sponge to avoid damaging the wood.
  • Alternatively, you can wash them safely with lemon juice.
  • Rinse them with warm water and then dry them thoroughly with a clean cloth to prevent moisture buildup and bacteria growth.

Monthly Deep Cleaning

For a deep clean once a month, mix hot water and baking soda with lemon juice or white vinegar.  Soak your utensils in the mixture, wait 20 minutes, and then rinse thoroughly.  Finally, let them air dry completely.

Long-Term Maintenance

To maintain your wooden utensils over the years, apply vegetable oil to your completely dry tools with a clean cloth.  This simple step deeply nourishes and protects the wood.
