How to Cut a Pineapple Effectively

Here are a few simple tips to save you time cutting your pineapple!

How Do You Know If a Pineapple Is Ripe?

First, you have to choose it carefully. To check if it is ripe enough, rely on its smell, which should be sweet at the base.  Its golden color shouldn't be too green, and it should have a firm texture.  To be fully ripe, the fruit should feel heavy.  You can also check if its leaves detach easily; if they do, it's ready to eat!

The Best Way to Cut It

  • To best prepare your pineapple, start by cutting off both ends.
  • Next, slice it into wedges and remove the core from each piece.
  • The center of the fruit is more bitter, so it is best to remove it to better enjoy the flavor.
  • Cut each wedge as close to the skin as possible to avoid wasting any of the fruit.
  • Finally, make small slices for easier eating.
  • Find a presentation you like to impress your friends, and use the inedible parts for decoration!
